It's about that time y'all. I need to dust off the supplies and get back to it. I've had some ideas swirling around in my head and it's about time I did something with them. It will probably take me a little time to get back into the swing of things as my baby is only 7 months old, but I'm ready!

I managed to spend a weekend early in January to work on some birthday cards, but after breaking the camera in December, I then lost it which is why I haven't shared any photos lately. We found it this week so I'll post some pics soon.

Also the past week I've been working on some things for a baby shower. I will have photos to share of that too after this weekend. I don't want to spoil any surprises.

Swap Cards

Sorry to be MIA for so long. This month has been super busy at work, I feel like I always say that, but this time I had to go into the office for a week and immediately after that my boss went on a three week vacation so we've been distributing her work amongst the 4 of us in our department. The good news is we've all learned a lot these past few weeks. We're all ready for vacations of our own, good thing the holidays are quickly approaching.

Here are my swap cards finally! I joined a swap on Paper Wings to get some inspiration. I just adore Cheery Thought! I knew I had to use it. I paired it up with Miss Moxie paper. I was going for a different theme card so I chose "Hooray for you" as the sentiment.

The other card I made used Joyful Ornaments and Penelope paper. I used transendence embossing powder so the images would stand out and I like the way it turned out. I like the bold rich colors of Penelope for a Christmas card. I'm thinking about making some more cards similar to this one, but using Reece paper instead.

Halloween is fast approaching and while some are anxiously awaiting trick-or-treating, I'll be celebrating my Angel-versary! This year will be three years with the angel company and I'm still loving it as much as I did when I first started. There's a gathering in Waco in January I might look into attending, need to check with the hubby.

Have a safe Halloween! Don't get too spooked and be sure and brush after all that candy. ;-)

Altered Letters

I've been wanting to make altered letters ever since I found out my step mom painted my step brother's and step sister's rooms. I want to say last summer Lizzy helped me paint the letters. Josh's room is painted green and blue and has a camping theme and Katie's room is painted lavendar and green and has a flower and butterfly theme. I worked on Josh's first because I had all these ideas in my head that were waiting to jump on the letters. Here's how they turned out:

The J is covered with bug paper because when I think camping I think of bugs galore. LOL The O has fire, chocolate and smores because camping's not camping without 'em!

The S has a sleeping bag, tent and a pair of hiking boots, all necessities while camping. I actually learned how to tie some knots via youtube so I used some twine at the top and bottom. The H is covered with water paper and has two fishing lures glued to it. I originally wanted to hang fishing line from the H, but these were too cool to pass up since they glow in the dark. I figured Josh would like that. Now to work on Katie's. I should have those to share soon.

Halloween Treat Bag

I don't know what it is about the holidays, but as they near I find myself inspired to make all sorts of treat and homemade gifts. With Halloween approaching I searched a couple of different websites for a treat bag to make and finally ended up on Scor-Pal's website. It took only a few minutes to make these, even with time included for stamping. I used Trick or Treaters T-2795 to decorate the cardstock which was Bazzill I had on hand. I plan to make a few more for some friends, who doesn't love candy? I bought a few bags of Hershey's minis chocolates and bubble gum and smarties for the non-chocolate lovers, the very few of you out there. LOL I've eaten quite a few of the Krackle already which means I'll have to buy more. Yum!

These are the first two I made so after I made the one completely I started the second one to know how to place my stamps on the rest so they all were facing the right way. I made sure Trick or Treat and Happy Halloween were on the sides on the bag.

If you'd like to try these yourself, here are the instructions. The only change I made was in making the 45 degree angles because I don't have a Scor-Mat so I marked my cardstock at 3 1/2" and then made my own score line to the crease using the Scor-pal. I bought treat bags in the party supplies area of Walmart and then cut them at 6". It fits the candy perfect with just an inch at the top above the twist-tie. The ribbon is from Walmart too.

Friday Share - Mini Backpack

I'm sure many of you have seen the adorable backpack on The Angel Company Homepage that Rita Wetzel designed,but if you haven't, checked it out. It's too cute for words, especially with the Toodle Loo paper. I gave it a try last week before Lizzy left. She wanted to make two for her brothers and one for her. Here's one we made. It wasn't that difficult and came out pretty cute. I used some retired Kaleidoscope Brites paper. We didn't make it fancy, but I plan to make another soon and will share them with you.

Christmas Cards Revisited

I tried several variations of cards. You'll notice I didn't adhere anything, I was trying to decide which I like the best plus with Inspiration Avenue coming out with 42 new stamp sets, I wasn't sure if I'd want a new Christmas stamp or not. I already precut some paper for the basic card sketch I was going to use so I'm going to finish these once I decide on which card style I prefer.

The transendence powder really makes a difference and makes the image pop. I like it on the patterned paper too. I think I prefer the thinner ribbon vertically on the card as well. Now to get back to it. Once I finish this first batch I should have about 60 cards. I'm going to rotate the three inks (Claret, Violete, and Landscape) I'm using along with the cardstock and patterned paper instead of my usual exact replication.

I was able to sneak in some play time last night while the baby was napping so I started working on Christmas cards. While I was looking for Perky Penguins I came across Joy of Christmas. I've been dying to use this set so I think I'm going to use it instead. I chose Penelope as my paper choice. Here's my first version.

I'd like to add some ribbon and some dimension so I'm thinking of cutting out the Christmas tree and using pop dots on the patterned paper. It's missing some glitz so I'm going to order some Transcendence Embossing Powder. I'll use it on the Christmas tree. I'm thinking of using some bling for the star as well. I'm hoping to get back to them tonight or Saturday and I'll share the results.

Perky Penguins

When I bought this set, I had every intention of using it for my Christmas cards that year. I think I've had it for over two years. Yikes! Today I went through all my stamps to pick out a stamp set to use for my Christmas cards this year. I really want to use Perky Penguins this year.

Now to determine a color combo to use it with. Of course red was the first thought I had, but red & gold is a typical Christmas color combo as is blue and silver, which was my second thought. I thought of red and blue but it'd probably end up red, white and blue. I want to use something a little less traditonal, but not too wild that just doesn't seem Christmasy, but every time I start thinking of other colors I think it's too wild.

I have a ton of Christmas cards to make so I hope to start on them soon. I always pick my stamp set first, so I can check that off my list. Now to determine the color scheme...

I went for a walk yesterday evening and plan to go again later this afternoon if I don't get too caught up in card making. Oh well, at least that's still productive.

I'm so bummed...

I had such a productive weekend last weekend and the camera is on the blink so I can't even share my cards with you. Talk about a bummer! I made wedding thank yous and worked on a card swap that's due in April, about 30 cards total. I'm still mulling over baby shower thank yous and baby announcements.

I had wanted to share the make and takes for the second and third Portland Rubber Stampers Meetups. We made a little mini goodie basket in February and then we made chipboard magnets in March. We had a good turnout in February, March wasn't as good, but the weather was quite yucky. I left my tables out because I knew I had cards to make and this last weekend was perfect for getting caught up on card making.

The Fourth Portland Rubber Stampers Meetup is Saturday, April 18th at noon. I'm still working on the make and take for that - so many ideas, so hard to choose one. We'll most likely skip May and June since the baby's due around then and hopefully we'll pick back up in July.

I hope spring has inspired you!! We spotted a few hummingbirds last weekend, haven't seen them since, but our feeders are out and I can't wait to see them again.

Hopefully I'll have a working camera soon to share some cards with you.

Here are two card swaps I just finished last week. The first was for a Valentine's card using colors other than red, pink and white and the other is a tag card.

I forget what kind of paper this is, but the stamps are Doodlebug's Love stamps. I used my Quickutz die cutter to cut the hearts and a SU corner punch.

For this card I used the library pocket Coluzzle template for the pocket and then cut a piece of cardstock to fit inside. I used Lilly Anna V-833 and Lilly Anna cardstock B-314 and the flower from the retired Mini Sampler T-2548 set and the words from Oh How T-2808. I used the SU tab punch for the tab pullout.

The Portland Rubber Stampers Meetup group meets this Saturday at noon, please join us, as always I have a little make and take for you and you're free to stay and scrapbook all day. I know I have a bunch of stuff piling up on my desk that need to be done so I'll be one busy girl.

I thought I'd share a little something I made for our wedding. The reception was very last minute. I wanted something personalized just for us so I printed some address labels, was thankful I could change the direction of the text and then I stamped them. Our colors were red and black so I used L'Amore Red and Noir Palette Hybrid inks and used the heart stamps from Mini Sampler T-2548 and Sweet Goodies T-2990. The candies are the Hershey's nuggets.

I made this card last weekend for my step dad's birthday. I like the color combination for a masculine card. I'm trying to break out of my girlishness and go more masculine, it's proving to be a little challenging for me.

I used Winchester V-835, and B-316, Ship Collage T-2027 and Trendy Greetings T-2144.

Escape 2009

I had the best time at Escape 2009. I only wish I had remembered to take a half day Thursday so I could have more time to spend with my fellow angels. These girls are the most talented and they offer such inspiration. The TAC staff really spoiled us and every time I turned around we were receiving gifts and getting all sorts of goodies. I always come home feeling renewed and ready to soar after our leadership meetings!

I was the last to arrive in our hotel room Thursday night and Debra was already downstairs working on shoebox swaps and Ginger was going through her goodies she got at Club-Med. I went downstairs to see who all was in the crop room and suddenly grew very tired. It was hard to sleep because of my excitement to see the new magalogue - Serendipity.

Friday was jam packed with projects and prizes. One angel won all the new stamp sets for free!! Then we got to see Serendipity for ourselves. LOVE IT!!! As soon as I saw it I knew I was in trouble. There are stamp sets for everybody's tastes. There are project ideas and great inspiration, it's just a really neat presentation of what The Angel Company has to offer. We had trouble sleeping Friday night because we were all mulling over what to get from the magalogue. I think after a while we all figured it'd be quicker to write down what we didn't want...

Saturday was just as jammed packed. We heard from angels about what works for their business and what doesn't. Some of the top sellers shared advice on how they have built their teams. Another angel won all the new stamp sets and yours truly scored a Scor-Pal!!

We then headed off for more projects and then we said our goodbyes. Took some photos with Mischelle, the angel cutouts and roomies. A great time indeed was had by all. It was hard to come home.

My funny Mischelle story or rather embarrasing story... when I asked Mischelle to sign my copy of Serendipity and take a picture with me, she looked at my name tag. She then said "You're not that far." I thought she was looking at my belly and replied "No, I'm only 5 months." Then she looked at me, laughed and said "I meant you don't live far from here." We both got a good chuckle out of that! I had no idea she knew where Portland was, considering I didn't even know there was a Portland, TX a year ago. I should have asked her if she's lived in Texas, but I know she loves San Antonio.

Ready to Escape to San Antonio

It's that time of year, we gather as Angels in San Antonio and feverishly await the unveiling of the new catalogue - although this year it's a magalogue!! I'm sure we won't be able to sleep tonight, lying half awake all night like kids on Christmas, wondering what new goodies await us.

I'm mostly packed. LOL I need to pack something to work on during crop time in the evenings. I have a few new stamp sets I could cut out, so there's always that. I have a few projects/birthday gifts I'd like to work on, so I might do that too. I need to hurry, I need to leave in a few hours.

Here's a photo of my trades for this weekend. A trade is sort of like a swap, but there's no definite number you make and it's open to whatever, you just have to use TAC products and new stuff is preferred because it gives us all samples to use in our workshops. I'll post photos tomorrow sometime once we start trading. I'm going to take my photographer hat (figuratively) because I always have the camera with me, but I'm a bad picture taker. Not this year, I'm going to break out of that shell.

Birthday Cards

Here are two birthday cards I worked on last week. Both are using Uptown Girl V-922 paper.

On this card I used two new stamp sets from the upcoming Spring/Summer magalogue, You Are and Playful Parenthesis. The flower is from the extra jumbo flower punch D-706.

For this card I used the retired stamp set Girls Night Out T-2031 and the Escape 2009 stamp set.

The First Monthly Portland Rubber Stamp/Scrapbooking Meetup

Saturday, January 10 we had our first Portland Rubber Stamp and Scrapbooking Meetup. We had three adults and three children attend. The kids were just as eager as the adults to make the make and take which was a treat holder for Valentine's Day inspired by the Sweet Tart candy holder, on the Chic n' Scratch blog.

We used scarlet V-237, kraft V-244, and white ultrasmooth V-222 cardstock, L'Amore Red TT-195 and Burnt Umber TT-218 Palette Hybrid inkpads with Seasonal Icons T-3015 stamp set from the Fall Supplement. I used the Happy Valentine's Day stamp with To: and From: lines from the retired set Valentine Trio T-876 and ribbon I had on hand.

I designed the black V-215 and white treat holder the day of the meetup because I love the Sweet Skunks T-2674 stamp set. I used Cloud White S-992 VersaMagic ink and You're so Sweet from the Chocoholic T-2104 retired stamp set. I really wanted it to say "You're so stinkin' sweet" but I couldn't find a way to write in "stinkin" because the letters are so close together. I also used the Mega D-700 and Giga D-701 scalloped circle punches.

Our next meetup is scheduled for Saturday, February 14 at noon. See you there!

My dad's birthday was last Friday and I tend to struggle when it comes to making masculine cards, but I used a combination of sketches 1 and 2 from the front of the fall/winter 2008 Inspiration Book & Catalogue and I like how it turned out.

I used Just Like Dad V-925 from the Wing it paper collection, Happy Birthday stamp from Trendy Greetings T-2144 and the Mega D-702 and Giga D-703 Scalloped Square punches. The cardstock came from my stash of Bazzill cardstock and the ribbon I had on hand.

Oops! I forgot to post my Christmas cards for last year. I used what I had which was some leftover Diecuts with a View paper from the previous year's Christmas cards and I used the reindeer from Christmas Fun T-1253 and Icicle Stickles F-522 to give it a little sparkle. The ribbon was from my stash.

Whoa Christmas Tree

Just wanted to share pictures of our Christmas tree. I ordered it online at NobleFir.com. They let you pick your own or if you'd rather, they pick one for you. It was the first time I've ordered a live tree before. It took about a week to get here, looks great and smells nice and piney. I love it! My allergies feel differently, but it only took two days to get used to.

I'm working on Christmas cards now, listening to some Christmas music on Rhapsody and sipping hot apple cider. Yum! This cold weather sure does make for a good Christmas.

Upcoming Changes

There are new and exciting changes happening at The Angel Company!!

First of all we're going back to an annual Inspiration Book and Catalogue which will be released this summer at Seminar, this will be our core catalog. This catalogue will be released on an annual basis at each year’s summer Seminar and will offer a variety of merchandise including our top-selling stamp sets. To supplement that annual catalogue, two “magalogues” (cross between a magazine and a catalogue) will be released throughout the catalogue year…one during the fall and one during the spring. These magalogues will have a seasonal focus and will also introduce new products, including new hostess sets.

Therefore, as we prepare for our first Base Book to be released at Seminar 2009, we enter a period of transition concerning our catalogues. A new 48-page magalogue will be introduced at Leadership Conference at the end of January and will go “live” February 1, 2009. This magalogue will introduce a variety of new products. It will have stamp sets corresponding to the Spring/Summer seasons and will take the place of our Spring Supplement. This first-edition magalogue will also introduce an exciting new format that we look forward to incorporating into the 2009-2010 Base Book that will be released at Seminar. The items in the current catalogue will remain in circulation until the new catalogue takes its place in June.

Also, stamps will be reflected at 100% in the Inspiration Book and Catalogue and the magalogues. I will be attending the Leadership Conference in January and I look forward to sharing the first magalogue with you come February.

Hope you are as excited as I am! It's like a whole other Christmas. LOL

Feeling Festive

Memory Purse

Last week I spent some time working on my memory purse. It's a pretty neat little purse. It has snaps on the side that open and you can slide your pages inside which means you can change it whenever you want or with the seasons or holidays. I used the Penelope paper and cardstock with pumpkin spice versamagic and violete palette inks. I used curls & swirls , He Said She Said, F is for Family, and Swoops & Swirls.

I've been unpacking more boxes and finding many things I'd forgotten I had. One thing I was looking for was some inspiration from two of my favorite magazines PAPER CRAFTS and CARDS. I need some ideas for Christmas cards so I thought these would really help. I'm also going to check out the latest downloads from SHEETLOAD and see if I can crank out a few starter cards and then work on my final card. While I'm on the subject of sheetload too, a fellow angel submitted her TAC sheetload, be sure and take a peek. I also have calendars and some card swaps to work on so it's not like I don't have things to do. Well really I should go walking, I haven't been in almost a week, but I did go out earlier and helped my honey do yard work. Our blower is on the fritz so he suggested I sweep up what he edged and that was a mini workout. It's sad that I'm going to be sore tomorrow from sweeping. I'm going to attempt to wake up early this week to sneak in a 30 minute walk before work, but the cold and I are not friends and it's starting to get pretty chilly in the mornings. I may have to take my walks during lunch. I'm going to mull over that while I work on some cards.

I hope you've been inspired to work on some things for this upcoming holiday season, whether it's for Thanksgiving or perhaps some early presents for Christmas.

The New Bind-It-All

For all you girls who just love pink (me, I'm waiting till it comes out in purple - just kidding - I already have the original one, but truth be told, I would like the new one) the bind-it-all is now available in pink.

The tool looks and works exactly the same, yet has a couple new features. The new design is able to punch through thicker material, and has an extension on the paper guide bar and plate. It is now a soft pink where it used to be a turquoise blue. To view a photo of the pink Bind-it-All go to the Products section of E-Commerce, click on Accessories, then click on Tools. How do you like the new blog? I tried switching to a new blog host, but didn't like it much so here I am, new blog name and I'm ready for the holidays!

Have you started on your Christmas cards or gifts for the holidays? I've had ideas here and there, but nothing really moves me. It's creeping me out, I need to get on the ball because it's all around the corner, you know how it is, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas all within weeks of each other. I've been volunteered to host Thanksgiving at my new house too so there's quite a bit of work to do there.

My goal this season is to get Christmas cards and 2009 calendars out to my family and friends. I don't really have any idea what I'm doing for Christmas cards. I have a few stamp sets in mind, but need to sit down and play with some card layouts.

Since moving, my craft room is setup, my table is set up and I've sat down maybe once or twice thinking I'd finish some old projects I'd started, but the inspiration hasn't kicked in yet. I even spent some nights checking different sites for inspiration and it just didn't move me. I'm going to go through a couple of stacks of stuff and see if that will inspire me. I have a calendar swap I need to finish so that'll be the push I need.
